Morning Dress 1830's

FAQ

Q.) Is your story autobiographical?

Cynthia.) No. Although elements of every author’s life experiences make their way into their writing, my books are fiction. My characters are not based on real people. The hero is not my husband, although he does inspire my writing.

Q.) Where do your ideas come from?

Cynthia.) The spark for a book usually begins with a small glimpse of the characters’ lives. With The Seduction of Sarah, I saw a woman swimming in the lake and a stranger watching her from the shoreline. That was the beginning of their romance and the rest unfolded from there.

Q.) How long did it take you to make your first sale?

Cynthia.) I had been writing seriously for eight years before I got the call that Kensington was going to publish The Seduction of Sarah. This was my second completed manuscript, but I had completely rewritten my first manuscript five times and taken several writing courses.

Q.) What types of books do you read?

Walking Dress 1830's

Cynthia.) Everything. I adore romances of all genres, but my favorites are historicals. I started reading the Brontes and Jane Austen before I was ten. From there I graduated to Georgette Heyer and Barbara Cartland. I love mysteries, and Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors. I read a lot of non-fiction for enjoyment and research.

Q.) Are you working on anything currently?

Cynthia.) I have numerous ideas for different stories, but I have narrowed them down to two. I am working on another Regency-set historical about a spy ring and a contemporary with paranormal elements.
